Trevi's Fountain

The fountain is the term of the Vergine aqueduct, dating from the time of Emperor Augustus and remained in use throughout the Middle Ages, which is the oldest still-functioning aqueduct of Rome.

The fountain was designed by Nicola Salvi, on the orders of Pope Clement XII, and was inaugurated in 1735.

It's known worldwide for the scene from the movie La Dolce Vita and the tradition of throwing a coin to propitiate the return to Rome.
